ABOUT US
The Philippines is a mix of cultures, religion and languages.
The Filipino people themselves are also a mix of different races. Officially considered Asian but its heritage is unique mix of Spanish, Asian and Pacific Islander. The country's official language is English and Filipino (based on Tagalog). However, Philippine English may sound different from American or British English as it is a combination of both (American because it used to be part of America, British because of its proximity to Australia). Although almost 80% Filipinos understand and speak at the very least workable English, the older population have a hard time understanding English because of the different accents. They also have a hard time expressing themselves in English and would much rather agreee with what is being said than argue or explain themselves to avoid losing face.
